Radio City Tower
It took me a while to sort this one out. I was uncertain about posting it at first because of the corporate logo, but an e-mail to Radio City later and I was assured everything was alright.
St John's Beacon, as it is properly called was built in the late 60s as part of St John's shopping centre. it is 102 metres high and is the tallest building in Liverpool. Originally the top was a rotating restaurant, but the bearings seized and it was closed in 1977. Like many famous Liverpool buildings it spent most of the 80s and 90s as an abandoned white elephant. It was reopened in 2000 as the headquarters of local commercial station 'Radio City' and a second floor was built above the sign.
It is now more commonly referred to as the Radio City Tower and has retaken its rightful place as a well-loved landmark in the city.
