Shaft!

Just behind the famous waterfront stands one of Liverpool's most unusual buildings. The George's Dock Building was designed by Herbert Rouse and built in 1934 as a ventilation shaft for the Queensway tunnel, with some office space around the bottom. It shares its Ancient Egyptian/Art Deco styling with one other ventilation shaft and the two openings to the tunnel in Liverpool.

This photograph has been slightly doctored. I have removed some cranes and other background construction junk from the right hand side and also removed various junk like floodlights and some kind of electricity box from the building's facade... it all adds to that pristine look that fits the building well, especially when viewed from this angle and you can't see that it is surrounded by other tall buildings.
