Frequently Asked Questions

Date:

What if the job takes longer that you quoted for, or if unexpected expenses are incurred?

The quote is based on my experience and your brief. I have a pretty good idea of how long things are going to take, and so I won't charge extra for any miscalculations I make in my estimate of how long it will take to deliver the requirements of the brief. If however extra time is going to be spent due to an additional request you make on the day of the shoot then I will make you aware of this and that extra time will be added to the invoice at my regular rate.

Occasionally extra-time is incurred due to circumstances outside your control, such as traffic delays, or breaks in shooting caused by the actions of third-parties. If there is a reasonable expectation that there will be a delay; such as with scheduled road-works; then we can discuss this, and the quote will reflect the amount of time expected for the work, including the delays. Delays that are outside your control and completely unexpected however, will not be charged for.

It is your responsibility to ensure that I'm aware of any cause for expense at the time I make a quote. If, for example an additional expense is incurred because of information you omitted in the brief (for example, a proposed venue is asking for a payment for photography to take place, or you want me to upload images direct from an event, but the venue charges for Wifi use) then this will be added to the invoice.

Technical Policies

All about file formats, sharpening, colour profiling, resolution... boring stuff like that. Still, worth looking at if you're a geek, have technical specs or are a designer.

Intellectual Property FAQ

I've brought together all those common questions about things such as usage, copyright, licencing and your own rights concerning the intellectual property into a separate FAQ. I follow standing industry practice in this area, where you are paying not simply for the labour costs of producing the images, but for the right to use them. I recommending reading through it if you have any concerns.
